Josiah Stubb and The Winnipeg Review

Some months ago, in an effort to get my novel, "Josiah Stubb," better recognized at home, I decided to take a chance and submit it to what I think is recognized as the 'creme de la creme' of local reviewing sites in the province. In its own words, The Winnipeg Review is "Opinionated, a bit cranky, we exist to review Canuck fiction." So, needless to say, there wouldn't be any concern that they were trying to butter me up just to get on my good side. Anyway, I've been waiting on tenterhooks for their review of my book to come out, expecting something that was written by someone with carnivores at least six inches long - talons to match - and honest to the point of sadism. The question of teeth and talons aside, they didn't disappoint. Brutally honest though it might be, however, it was, by and large, really quite good.

Read on, if you dare....

I thought I'd include Josiah's Amazon link, you know, in case you felt prompted to read further:

"Voices" (and Angel) A Best Seller

I just received an email from the LWWG executive. Apparently their journal, "Voices," including my First in Fiction entry, "Angel," has received Best Seller status at McNally Robinson in Winnipeg.

I thought that was awfully nice.

Josiah Stubb - A Cover Story...

I may have posted this earlier, but I think that it's just too cool not to post again.

Do you see the soldier in the stern of the boat, partially obscured by the brown-haired sailor manning an oar? That's me. A few years younger, granted, but still quite definitely me. Artist, Peter Fussey, said that he was going to do that, but I thought he was joking. Apparently not!

I would have made a rather good looking grenadier, wouldn't I?
